American Ash Fraxinus americana Uses: all types of sports equipment, oars, cues, bats etc and striking handles such as spades forks and hoes. Cabinet work and interior joinery decorative veneers for furniture and cabinet making.

European Beech Fagus sylvatica Uses: Cabinetmaking, high-class joinery, solid and laminate furniture, work benches, musical instruments, domestic flooring, plywood's. More European Beech is consumed in the UK than any other hardwood.

American Cherry Prunus serotina Uses: Pattern making, musical instruments, furniture and cabinetmaking, high class joinery. It is an excellent turnery and carving wood.

Douglas Fir Pseudotsuga menziesii Uses: More veneer and plywood are produced from this species than any other timber. It is also used for heavy construction work, roof trusses, interior and exterior joinery.

Canadian Hemlock Tsuga heterophylla Uses: General construction, carpentry and joinery, also broom handles, vehicle bodies and railway sleepers.

Idigbo Terminalia ivorensis Uses: Furniture and high-class joinery for interior and exterior work. Also used for general carpentry, joinery and construction work It should not be used in damp conditions due to natural staining properties if in contact with iron compounds.

Iroko Chlorophora excelsa Uses: Interior and exterior joinery, furniture making and carving. It is a structural timber suitable for domestic flooring, flush doors and decorative veneering.

European Maple Acer capmestre Uses: Maple is an excellent turnery wood also used for furniture and joinery work. Selected stocks are sliced for highly decorative veneers for panelling.

Meranti Shorea spp Uses: Exterior and interior joinery, shopfitting, boat building and flooring. Rotary cut for plywood manufacture and decorative veneers.

American White Oak Quercus spp Uses: Suitable for furniture and cabinetmaking, joinery, heavy construction, parquet and strip flooring, pews ad pulpits, coffins.

European Oak Quercus petraea Uses: Furniture and cabinetmaking, high-class joinery, coffins, ecclesiastical work, pews screens, pulpits and carving.

Pine Western White Pinus monticola Uses: Joinery, doors and windows, interior trims, shelving, light and medium construction, pattern making, furniture making and plywood manufacture.

Poplar Populus Uses: Tough non-splintering wood used for rough usage such as truck floors, also suitable for furniture frames, drawers, interior joinery, toys and flooring.

Sapele Entandrophragma cylindricum Uses: Quality furniture and cabinetmaking, joinery, shopfitting, solid doors, boat building, musical instruments, sports good and flooring. Extensively used for a constructional veneer for plywood and decorative face veneers for cabinets and marquetry.

Utile Entandrophragma utile Uses: Furniture and cabinetmaking, high class exterior and interior joinery, flooring , boat building, musical instruments, sports good and general construction.

Western Red Cedar Thuja plicata Uses: Greenhouse and shed construction, shingles, exterior finishing, exterior boarding and cladding, beehive construction and posts, poles and fences.
